  • Live music at the bedside of the dying
  • Live music at the bedside of the infirmed
  • Bedside music combined with Compassionate Touch®
  • The therapeutic voice

Below is a description of these workshops. If you are interested in having any of these workshops presented for your volunteers or healthcare professionals, contact Guided Angels Ministry for a proposal.

The workshop on the use of the recorded music in the Guided Angels Ministry Program gives your Singers added confidence in the use of the Program. This workshop is not a necessity in implementing the Program, but it is a highly recommended extra. It is a one hour workshop. In this workshop your volunteers or healthcare professionals:

  • Get hands-on experience with the Guided Angels Ministry equipment
  • Have any questions answered that may have surfaced for them in the reading of the training manuals
  • Will sing with the Program CD’s
  • Will role play greeting a patient and family

For workshops on live music at the bedside of the dying or live music at the bedside of the infirmed, participants are encouraged to bring their instruments (the voice is an instrument). This workshop can last from one to four hours as arranged by you. These are some of the topics that will be covered in this workshop:

  • The history of therapeutic music
  • How music can heal
  • Use of the elements of music in bedside music
  • The therapeutic voice - human and instrument
  • How to greet and interact with a patient and the patient’s family

In my experience as a professional therapeutic bedside musician I have seen some incredible and unforgettable moments of healing when music has been combined with touch. Guided Angels Ministry is working hand-in-hand with Compassionate Touch® to offer a seminar that combines these two complementary healing modalities. In this seminar participants will learn about the use of bedside music and the use of touch as complementary approaches to promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, and ease pain. This seminar includes hands-on training in both modalities. This is a two and a half day training seminar. Compassionate Touch® is a highly esteemed national program that trains volunteers or healthcare professionals to combine gentle massage, focused attention and sensitive communication in offering comfort care for the aged, the ill, or the dying person.

The workshop on the therapeutic voice combines the training and experience of Cass as a professional therapeutic bedside musician and the expertise of a renowned voice teacher, Joe Myering. Mr. Myering has studied the voice extensively under the tutelage of some of our nation’s greatest voice teachers. He is an actively performing professional performer and he is the director and voice teacher at the Vocal Arts Studio in Lancaster County, PA. He conducts a fun workshop and has a reputation for making his students laugh as they learn. Topics that will be covered in this workshop are:

  • Qualities of a therapeutic voice
  • The mind and spirit that supports a therapeutic voice
  • The therapeutic voice for the infirmed
  • The therapeutic voice for the dying
  • The voice and how it works - myths versus reality
  • Proper breathing, placement, and pitch for singing
  • Care of the voice

This is either a 3 or a 4 hour workshop as arranged by you. For class sizes smaller than 10, it is possible to have 5 minutes of private one-on-one evaluation of voice for each participant as a part of this workshop.
