These items are being collected at San Juan Batista and stored at their thrift store area.
A Woman's Concern Banquet - Thirteen St. James parishioners attended the annual fundraiser.
Mother's Day Flower Sale - Social Justice and the Respect Life Committee held this annual fundraiser to benefit A Woman's Concern. $602 was collected for 500 flowers given to sell at $1 per carnation, indicating our parishioners' support for life.
Parishioners with Disabilities - Jeannette Crnkovich and Phyllis Schwartz attended the regional Advocates meeting on Monday, May 17 at Sacred Heart in Lancaster. Ginny Duncan of the diocese was there to update us on current programs, and other Advocates shared the activities they have been doing. We would like to implement as soon as possible The Office of Ministry with People with Disabilities' John Paul II Prayer Community, a prayer ministry for persons in the diocese who because of illness, age or disability, are confined to home. It seeks to unite these parishioners into one confraternity to offer prayers, joys and sufferings to God for the specific intentions and needs of the Catholic Church. Parishioners who enroll would be sent a prayer card and intentions of the diocese. Continuing intentions would be mailed to them on a quarterly basis. We will discuss this with Father O'Blaney and come up with a plan to reach out to our homebound parishioners.
The next meeting will be Sunday, June 27 at 4:00 p.m. at the home of Jeannette and Bill List, 426 Westfield Court in Lititz. After a short meeting, we will have a cookout! Details to follow.
Respectfully submitted, Phyllis Schwartz, SJN secretary
